Thailand akhirnya menerima lima Main Battle Tank (MBT) Oplot dari Ukraina (07/02/2014). Tank-tank akan menjalani tes lebih lanjut sebelum diterima secara resmi.
The Royal Thai Army memesan 49 MBT Oplot di bawah kontrak pada bulan September 2011. Penerimaan teknis tank selesai pada November 2013. Thailand menyatakan membutuhkan sekitar 200 tank/ MBT.
MBT Oplot diproduksi oleh Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB) di Ukraina. Tank ini pada awalnya dikembangkan untuk memenuhi permintaan angkatan bersenjata Ukraina. Versi ekspor canon smoothbore 125mm digantikan dengan canon standar NATO 120mm smoothbore, automatic loader.
Thailand adalah pelanggan pertama untuk MBT Oplot. Kendaraan yang tersisa dijadwalkan dikirim pada akhir 2015.
